Always on — Umami

Umami is a privacy-first analytics service. It sets no cookies, writes nothing to your browser storage and does not store your IP address, so it cannot follow you across sites or build a profile of you. Because nothing is stored on your device, it needs no consent and runs for every visitor.

What it records:

• The page you opened and the site you arrived from.
• An approximate country, derived from your IP address and then discarded.
• Browser, operating system, device type and screen size.
• Named actions: CV downloads, social link clicks, opening and submitting the contact form, and which sections of the page you scrolled to.

Only with your consent — Microsoft Clarity

Clarity shows how the page is actually used: an anonymised replay of your session, plus click and scroll maps. It stores cookies in your browser (_clck, _clsk) and sends the recording to Microsoft, which keeps it for 30 days. Text you type into the contact form is masked before it leaves your browser.

None of this loads until you press “Accept” in the banner. If you decline, the Clarity script is never fetched at all. Microsoft’s handling of the data is covered by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

The contact form

The form is delivered by Formspree. Your name, email address and message are passed to Formspree and forwarded to my mailbox. They are used to reply to you and for nothing else.

Your choice

Your answer to the banner is kept in your browser under the key analytics-consent, with the value granted or denied. Unless you accept Clarity, that key is the only thing this site leaves on your device.

To change or withdraw your answer, use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page — the banner comes back. Declining does not degrade the site in any way.
